ITINERARY:

Discover for yourself what makes this part of Australia so special by joining our Coastal Loop tour from Perth to Monkey Mia. We head to the World Heritage listed gateways of Kalbarri and Shark Bay, with accessible wildlife such as dolphins playing in the surf at Monkey Mia and eye-opening rock formations, you’ll be blown away by what we’ve managed to fit into this trip.

Day 1: Perth - Kalbarri

Our coastal loop adventure begins with a walk along the stunning Greenhead Three Bays Walks. After lunch at Dynamite Bay, part of the Three Bays Walk, we travel up Indian Ocean Drive for some stunning coastal views.  On the way to Geraldton, we stop at the Hutt Lagoon Pink Lake, a must-see attraction just outside of town. Then it's on to the stunning coast of Kalbarri at the Natural Bridge and then we take a leisurely walk along Castle Cove. Enjoy an overnight stay in the sleepy seaside town of Kalbarri, where the Murchison River flows out into the Indian Ocean. Meals: n/a. Accom: Kalbarri Edge Resort Private Studio Rooms (with ensuite) or similar alternative. Driving Distance: 575km. Hike Distance: 2km.

Day 2: Kalbarri - Monkey Mia

Start early to catch a glimpse of the Murchison Gorge, Nature's Window, and the Kalbarri Skywalk in Kalbarri National Park, where water has carved its way through sandstone. Witness bright pops of colour here during the wildflower season (spring). Visit the well-known Billabong Roadhouse for lunch and refreshments (at guests' expense), an iconic landmark that has been serving visitors to Western Australia since 1962. From here, we visit the remarkable Shell Beach, and take a stroll along a beach made entirely of tiny shells. At Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort, we will stay right on the beach with resident dolphins living close by, within the World Heritage Listed area known as Shark Bay. You can hire a Kayak and go for a paddle (optional extra), relax on the beach or at the resort, or look for turtles, dugongs, emus, and kangaroos that live here. Meals: Breakfast. Accom: RAC Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort Private Stanard Rooms (with ensuite) or similar alternative. Driving Distance: 450km. Hike Distance: 3km.

Day 3: Monkey Mia - Geraldton

This morning we will meet with the famous Monkey Mia dolphins and get some up close and amazing photos. The Dolphin experience finishes at 9am afterwards you have free time to enjoy the beaches of Monkey Mia or alternatively head out on a wildlife cruise looking at  dugongs, turtles, sharks, sea-snakes, stingrays, sea birds, and fish (at guests own expense, pre bookings required). For customers not going on the cruise we gather at 11am and head to Eagle Bluff to look for sharks and turtles before heading back into Denham to explore the foreshore area and have lunch. Departing Denham at 1.30pm we head for Geraldton with stops at the Overlander Road House and Galena Bridge for a photo opportunity. Upon our arrival at Geraldton after 6-6:30pm, we will spend a final night by the seaside. Meals: Breakfast. Accom: Hospitality Geraldton Motel Private Standard Rooms (with ensuite) or similar alternative. Driving Distance: 385km. Hike Distance: 1km.

Day 4: Geraldton - Perth

Enjoy the HMAS Sydney Memorial with stunning views of Geraldton. Visit the Point Moore Lighthouse in Geraldton. On to Port Denison with a walk along the foreshore and to the lookout. Then head back along the Indian Ocean road with a stop in the town of Jurien bay with a walk along the Jetty. Then we travel to the lovely little seaside town of Cervantes to our fabulous lunch option at the WA famous Lobster shack, then on to a guided tour through their Lobster factory. On to the amazing Nambung national park to wander around the strange and eerie Pinnacles Desert.  Kick back and relax on the bus for the last stretch, taking in the last views of the scenic countryside before making our way back towards Perth, with drop off starting around 6.30 pm. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch. Driving Distance: 465km. Hike Distance: 1km.

*A moderate to advanced level of fitness is required to complete the walks. Autopia Tours reserves the right to alter the route or itinerary stops during seasonal weather fluctuations and/or during park closures.

WEATHER:

The weather in Western Australia can fluctuate and be extreme at times. It is not unheard of for temperatures to reach over 40+ degrees Celsius during the day and in the evening the temperature drops dramatically. Please ensure you have checked the average temperatures for the time of year you are travelling and have packed adequate clothing. In the event of rain or inclement weather, your experience will still go ahead, unless contacted by the provider.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Mandatory passenger details are required at the time of booking: date of birth, and phone number.
  • We will try to cater to most dietary needs and/or food allergies - passengers MUST notify the tour operator of any special dietary requirements or medical conditions at the time of booking.
  • A moderate level of fitness is required to complete the walks. The length of walks will be between 2km to 3km each day, often over steep rocky sections and in direct sunlight and high humidity. Approximately 8km of walking is included in this tour. Embarking on walks will be at the guide’s discretion to ensure the safety of guests. Therefore a medium/high level of fitness is required and a doctor’s certificate is required for people over 70 years (30 days prior to travel).

  • Limited storage space on our vehicle, baggage kept to 1 x 15kg travel bag, 1 x 5kg day bag. This tour is not suitable for mobility-impaired travellers, wheelchairs, walkers or strollers.
  • Itineraries may vary to adapt to seasonal changes and occasionally sites in the parks close or do not allow swimming. As safety is our top priority we plan accordingly to ensure our guests have the most fun and best experience possible while on tour. 
  • Guests are asked to participate in the preparation of meals, clean up, and vehicle unpacking/loading, so everyone can relax together after a long day touring. It’s also a great way to get to know and connect with your fellow travellers.
